Cyber Innovation Center

A key anchor for this effort is the Cyber Innovation Center (CIC) and National Cyber Research Park (NCRP) located in Bossier City. The ongoing drive for computer security and cyber technological advancements is spurring growth and development in this important sector of our economy. The CIC will focus on protecting our nation’s interest by promoting and accelerating research, exploring and developing emerging technologies, and becoming a leader in cyberspace. The NCRP will be a state-of-the-art research park that provides a physical location for government, industry and academia to co-locate and collaborate. The NCRP will also support Barksdale Air Force Base, which neighbors the park, home to the Air Force’s newest major command – Air Force Global Strike Command.

CIS - Northwestern State University

Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana supports the cyber industry through the Computer
Information Systems (CIS) Department. The department, which is the CIS Center of Excellence for the University of Louisiana system, focuses on the following areas of expertise:

• Object-Oriented and Web Programming
• COBOL and COBOL.NET
• Database Design
• Network Design, Administration and Security
• Systems Analysis and Design (including UML)
• Summer technical program focused on Cyber security

Awards and recognition earned by the CIS Department from the National Collegiate Conference include five national championships in Systems Analysis and Design, three national championships in Database Design, and two national championships in COBOL programming.
